When it was visible in 2020, NEOWISE was the brightest comet in the northern hemisphere since Comet Hale–Bopp in 1997.
It was discovered in March 27, 2020 by a team using the WISE space telescope under the NEOWISE program.
The diameter of its nucelus is estimated to be about 3 miles.
